Bender's 4th Gotcha Day

I thought I would dust this blog off a bit with some recent photos of my pibble, Bender. We celebrated his 4th Gotcha Day at the end of July, and I managed to get some snaps of him.

Bender doesn't love having a camera in his face so he will look away a lot, but I find I can get him to look at me if I move my face away from the back of my camera and talk to him. And hope like heck I have it pointed in the right spot!

My serious dude...

Gimme that treat, Mom!!!

Samson and Delilah

One of many things I love about Bulldogs is all the snorting. It's so cute and I equate it with happiness, kind of like a tail wag. Those smushed up faces have to work a bit harder to breathe when there's much to be excited about.

Meet Delilah and Samson! I met up with them and their humans at Vitruvian Park in Addison, where we found a spot off on our own to have some photo fun.

We kept walking to a minimum since it was on the warmer side and we didn't want the dogs overheating. I worked with Delilah first so that Samson could explore the area a bit and allow him time to be okay with having his photo taken.

I loved her girly pink flower!

Because Samson was a bit camera-shy, I used one of his favorite toys to catch his attention. He quickly figured out how to be a model!

Handsome boy with his bow tie on. :-) We had a fun shoot!

Bailey

Right before the holidays, I did a session with Bailey and her humans. We went over to Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve in Plano, which I love for its variety of photo spots and walking trails. It was super windy during our session, so we found a spot that was sheltered and still looked nice for photos.

This is Bailey:

Such a big and beautiful dog. I loved getting to photograph her!

And here she is, walking with her Humans:

We kept things simple and loosely posed so that both humans and beast were comfortable and happy. Other than the wind, the weather was pretty good for a December shoot. It was fun!

Kaylee and Zoe

On a recent trip to Austin, TX, I stayed with my dear friend, Candace. I really enjoyed a girl's weekend with her, and two zany dogs. Zoe is more reserved than her sister, but it turns out that there is a superstar model inside that shy body of hers! Outgoing Kaylee wanted very little to do with my camera. It's funny how that works out. I didn't get many photos of them together, but the one I am sharing below definitely captures how funny they are!

Crazy girls!:

Kaylee, giving my camera the stink eye:

Will work for kibble:

Food bribery always works well when a dog is camera-shy, along with some patience & persistence. While you want the dog to know that things are okay, you also don't want to annoy them by chasing them around too much with a big black clicky object. I just try to capture what they give me.

Kirby

I paid a visit to Diane in Coppell to take some photos of her and her furbaby, Kirby. We did a mixture of portraits and candids and I think it worked out quite nicely. Kirby just loves his human and was eager to please by posing for his photo. We had a really nice time!

How cozy does this bed look?!

Hiya!

Happy Holidays, everyone! I can't believe how fast 2015 has gone.

Waffles, Bailey, Dirk, and Jack

I'm not going to lie, photographing 4 dogs all in one session had me a bit nervous. Lucky for me all of the dogs were super sweet, obedient, and willing to pose for treats! I also had a lot of help from their humans, Harrison and Christina.

This is Waffles:

She is the queen bee of the group, and quite expressive. She had the whole head tilt down when posing for photos!

Here is Bailey:

She loves to give kisses and share her toys with you. She is also very outgoing and demands you pay attention to her.

Dirk:

He is a timid fellow. I had to be patient with him and let him relax and come to me when he was ready. He has beautiful smokey brindle fur.

Jack:

He was a foster dog. (Happily, he has a forever home and was just over because his human was away). I seriously wanted to take him home. He is so mellow and sweet, and I adored his eye patch.

Jack, Bailey, and Waffles:

The whole group. Jack, Dirk, Waffles, and Bailey.

Getting this shot was a challenge. It was early in the session, and Dirk was feeling very shy. I hurriedly snapped this photo, just hoping I had everyone in frame and in focus. Not perfect, but overall I love it.

I had a blast during this session, and each dog was lovely.

Rosalind and Jake

It took so long to turn into Fall in these parts. Just a few weeks ago we still had temperatures in the 90's! When I met up with Stephanie and Kevin at a neighborhood park in Richardson, we lucked out with clouds and temperatures that weren't blazing hot! Just as well, because Stephanie was hoping for photos she could potentially use for holiday cards.

Meet Rosalind: She is energetic, lovable, and her folded ears are so cute!

This is Jake: He is a wise old man and Kevin's beloved buddy. Though, Jake certainly had a goofy side in him!

We focused on some candid portraits of Stephanie and Kevin with each dog, and then took a few of all four of them. With Jake being older, he tired out faster than Rosalind, so when he needed a rest, I would focus on Rosalind. These two dogs are best buddies!

It was a really fun session! We all laughed quite a bit, and the dogs were just there for the treats. ;-)
